FAQ
Welcome to Avli Residences. We put together these answers to help you plan your stay in Kos. Read through to find details on how things work around here, and what to expect when you arrive.
Location & Getting There
Where exactly are you located?
Avli Residences is located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Kako Pinari. We are a 20-minute walk (or a 3-minute drive) from the center of Kos Town, Kos Castle, and the Port. The Kos Marina is just a 15-minute walk away.
How far is the airport?
Kos International Airport (KGS) is a 37-minute drive from the residences.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes. We can arrange a local taxi to meet you at arrivals for an extra charge. Just send us your flight details ahead of time so we can book the driver for you.
Should I rent a car?
It depends on how much you want to explore. Kos is famous for cycling, and the flat roads near our neighborhood and Kos Town are easy to navigate by bike. If you plan to visit the mountain village of Zia or the beaches down in Kefalos, renting a car for a day or two is your best option.
Is there parking on site?
Yes. We offer free private parking for our guests right at the property.
How close is the nearest beach?
The waterfront near Kos Marina is just a 15-minute walk away. For long sandy stretches, Lambi Beach and the town beaches are a short 5-to-10-minute drive or an easy bicycle ride from our doors.

No, we do not have a swimming pool on site. Most of our guests spend their days swimming at the nearby beaches.
Do you serve breakfast?
We do not have an on-site restaurant. Because all our residences feature kitchenettes, most guests prepare their own morning coffee and breakfast, or walk down toward the marina to visit local cafes.
Is there a reception desk?
There is no reception at the premises. A local host will greet you when you arrive to help you settle in, and we will always provide an emergency contact number for any issues during your stay.
Food, Drink & The Area
Are there restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance?
Yes. You can walk to several local dining spots in about 15 to 20 minutes, including places like Varouz and Alis near the center. A quick 3-minute drive takes you straight into the heart of Kos Town's dining scene.
What are the best beaches on Kos?
Tigaki and Marmari are famous for long, wide stretches of white sand. Kardamena is great for water sports and boat trips. For something unique, drive to Agios Stefanos to swim near ancient ruins right on the beach.
What should we see in Kos Town?
The town is full of history and just a 20-minute walk from your door. Walk around the Castle of the Knights, sit under the Tree of Hippocrates, and explore the Ancient Agora. The Asklepieion, an ancient healing center, is just a short drive or bus ride from town.
Can we take day trips to other islands?
Yes. Passenger ferries run daily from the Port of Kos, which is just 1.6 kilometers away. You can visit Nisyros to walk inside an active volcano crater, head to Kalymnos for its sponge-diving history, or take a 45-minute boat across to Bodrum in Turkey for the day.
Practical Info
Can I drink the tap water in Kos?
The tap water is safe for brushing teeth and boiling for tea, but we recommend drinking bottled water due to its high mineral content.
What plug sockets do you use?
Kos uses standard European two-pin plugs (Type C and F) supplying 230V.
Do I need cash or are cards widely accepted?
Cards are accepted almost everywhere on the island, including supermarkets and restaurants. It is a good idea to keep some small euro notes for bus fares, market stalls, and tipping.
When is the best time to visit?
May, June, and September offer warm weather, comfortable sea temperatures, and fewer crowds. July and August are the hottest months and the peak of the tourist season.
